Assistant Professor (former " lecturer") in Statistics/Epidemiology/Econometrics or Bioinformatics
This is an ideal opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher with strong quantitative skills and interests in international health, social influences on health, and the use of large-scale data, to develop their career. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The applicant will be working with academics in CIDACS – the Center of Data and Knowledge Integration for Health in Brazil, a new Center based on the integration of large data bases ("big data"), including the 100 million cohort.
The post holder will play a key role as the scientific bridge between LSHTM and CIDACS, identify appropriate analytical methods for new research questions, in particular using large linked datasets, undertake complex statistical analyses and write up of research outputs; with teaching at the LSHTM and in CIDACS, and contributions to internal and external citizenship.
The post-holder must have strong quantitative analytical skills and a PhD in Medical Statistics, Epidemiology, Econometrics or other relevant quantitative science. The post-holder must be willing to travel and undertake visits to Brazil and be willing to learn Portuguese. Experience of writing research proposals and teaching at MSc level and/or supervising PhD students is desirable.
