JOB: Senior Statistician Institute of Cancer Research, UK

Senior Medical Statistician – The Institute of Cancer Research Clinical Trials & Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU)
We are looking for an experienced medical statistician to work on the design and analysis of biomarker directed trials and translational studies.
The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and our partner The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust are together at the forefront of advances in personalised therapy for cancer. Our mission is to make the discoveries that defeat cancer. Our unique partnership makes us the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, performing high quality original basic research and translational studies.
We are looking to make a senior statistical appointment within ICR-CTSU, a Cancer Research UK funded, NCRI Accredited, UKCRC Registered academically based clinical trials unit which develops and conducts high quality non-commercial cancer trials. ICR-CTSU’s main interests and areas of expertise are phase II/III randomised trials that evaluate new drug treatments and technologies (including radiotherapy) and/or utilise biomarker driven designs to clinically qualify putative predictive biomarkers. Clinical areas of focus are breast, urological and head and neck cancers with further trials in melanoma, sarcoma and ovarian cancer.
The successful applicant will have a varied role working on the statistical development, oversight and analysis of a number of multi-centre phase II/III (and phase II/III pilot) cancer clinical trials and associated translational research projects. There will be an individual emphasis towards phase II and biomarker-directed trials and associated issues of design (e.g. multi-stage, adaptive designs) and analysis (e.g. biomarker changes, futility). Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and with external collaborators on specific trials, the post holder will also have line management responsibility for other ICR-CTSU statisticians as well as providing wider mentoring within ICR-CTSU. You should have a PhD or equivalent experience in clinical trials and / or biomarker research, be effective when working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment and be experienced in staff management.
Appointment will be on a non-time limited contract to the ICR Staff Scientist scale which ranges from £38,991 - £46,127per annum inclusive.
