Social inequalities in morbidity and mortality at older ages

Permanent, full time post (based at UCL until Dec 2017, subject to further renewal)
Salary: Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate Grade 7/8 (£30,000 to £50,000 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance). Applications are invited for a full-time health statistician/analyst with expertise in the analysis of linked electronic-health databases and /or large longitudinal surveys to join a research team focusing on socioeconomic inequalities in multiple morbidity and healthy life expectancy at older ages. The successful candidate will contribute to, and help shape, our on-going programme of research on the drivers of longevity and future trends in population ageing.

The team, led by Dr Madhavi Bajekal, includes clinical epidemiologists at the FARR Institute London and Academic Primary Care at the Royal Free, health informatics experts and a senior statistician at UCL Dept of Statistics. Statistical methods will include prognostic research, survival and multi-state analysis. Collaboration from the outset with UCL Clinical Operational Research Unit (CORU) will provide a further opportunity to build useful information products for health professionals in the frontline of care of the elderly.
