Dear colleagues,
We have a job opening in our team, which we intend to fill via an assessed internship. Such an internship is a paid position of 3-6 months, which will lead to a job offer if both parties are happy with the experiences during the internship. The candidate should be close to completion of a PhD (or MSc if an excellent student). We are looking for a candidate with a broad interest in statistics and chemometrics. Our team covers a wide range of topics, as further described below.
Internships with Shell in the Netherlands
Shell has the ambition to be the world’s most innovative energy company. It comes as no surprise that Shell spends a lot of money in Research and Development. Shell examines many new technologies in the area of data analysis and statistics. The Statistics & Chemometrics group provides innovation and consultancy within Shell, helping the organisation to “make decisions with confidence”. The group works with clients all over Shell on diverse projects such as:
· Experimental design for product development in lubricants, fuels, base chemicals and catalysis,
· Multivariate Statistical Process Control and Optimisation,
· Econometric modelling of markets in form of scenarios like the World Energy Model,
· Modelling of extremes to e.g. design off-shore drilling platforms but also wind turbines and similar,
· Big Data applications in customer management and external communication,
· Probabilistic inversion in remote and acoustic sensing
We are looking for: Students studying for a PhD or Masters, interested in applying their statistical skills, who would like to get some international work experience. Fluent English is a pre-requisite.
We offer: a paid internship of 3-6 months duration in Amsterdam, working on one or a number of projects depending on the area of interest and the skills of the candidate. Accomodation support and an allowance is provided. Students close to the end of their studies can apply for an “Assessed Internship”, leading to a job offer of further full-time employment if successfully completed.
