Two Postdoc Positions at KAUST

The Extreme Statistics research group (extSTAT, http://extstat.kaust.edu.sa/) led by Prof. Raphaël Huser at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, is seeking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to work on research problems at the interface between several of the following areas:
- Extreme-value theory and statistics
- Spatio-temporal statistics
- Stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) models for spatial statistics
- Fast inference methods (MALA, HMC, INLA, Variational Bayes, likelihood-free approaches, etc.)
- Graphical models
- Causal inference
- Probabilistic machine learning (neural networks, etc.)
- Applications in climate science, geoscience, finance, neuroscience

The two postdoc positions are designed to be a career-building step for junior scholars, with the development of a research program as focus. The postdocs will be fully part of the extSTAT research group at KAUST, primarily supervised by Raphaël Huser and be actively involved in the ongoing collaborative research grant entitled “Sparse Models for Spatio-Temporal Extremes” with the University of Geneva. Successful candidates will be expected to conduct and present high-quality research, publish papers, and help supervise PhD students.
