The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) is the independent regulator of health products in Ireland. Our role is to protect and enhance public and animal health by assessing the safety, quality and effectiveness of medicines, medical devices and other healthcare products on behalf of the public to ensure the benefits they provide outweigh any potential risks.
We also monitor the safety of cosmetics.

Working in the Human Products Authorisation and Registration department, the Biostatistician will analyse and critically appraise statistical aspects of pre-marketing applications including dossiers for medicines, scientific advice applications and clinical trial applications. The assessment includes, but is not limited to, study design, statistical analysis plans, sample size, sensitivity analyses and imputation methods for missing data.

The Biostatistician will work closely with a more senior Biostatistician as part of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, pharmacists and pre-clinical scientists and will interact with national and international advisory committees and company representatives as required.
