Salary Range: £46,970 – £52,350 per annum
Closing Date: Wednesday 26 July (midnight BST)
Location: South Kensington Campus
We are seeking to appoint a lecturer/senior lecturer with internationally leading expertise in the field of Statistical Machine Learning. The appointee will lead research in applied statistical and computational science in big data in health science, advance training and collaborative research in big health data and develop suitable methodologies to this area.
Candidates should have demonstrated skill and background in computing, machine learning, and statistical analysis of big data, preferably with applications in health science research and genetics, as well as enthusiasm for teaching, training, and mentorship of PhD and MSc students. You must have a PhD or equivalent in statistics, machine learning, computer science or a related field. You will also have a high quality publication track record and outstanding potential to lead research activity and funding bids.
You will collaborate with the Study Team for Early Life Asthma Research (STELAR). STELAR is a consortium of complex, rich and expanding datasets from existing UK birth cohorts. One of the aims of this study is to implement and develop innovative computational statistical methods to identify novel subtypes of childhood asthma, enabling investigation of subtype-specific environmental and genetic associates and discovery of distinct pathophysiological mechanism.
You will join a multidisciplinary research team led by Professor Adnan Custovic, centered on implementing and developing statistical machine learning models to understand the progression of asthma and allergic diseases from childhood to adulthood.
This is an ideal position for developing a research agenda combining both theoretical and applied aspects of Statistical Machine Learning. Candidates should have a strong mathematical/statistical methodological background as well as experience in collaborating within a multidisciplinary research setting.
In addition to the above criteria, an appointee at senior lecturer level will have experience of obtaining externally funded research grants or fellowships, supervising postgraduate students and will provide evidence of academic leadership.
