Dear sir / madam,
The Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University has a job opening for a Full professor of Applied Mathematics. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
In summary:
The Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University invites applications for a
Full Professor of Applied Mathematics
We are searching for candidates whose main focus is in applied mathematics, in particular (but not restricted to) stochastics, statistics, stochastic modelling and SDE, data science, machine learning, networks or complex systems. Relevant areas of interdisciplinary research in Utrecht include atmosphere/ocean sciences, computational life sciences, mathematical biology and imaging/seismology. The Mathematical Institute has close ties with the Department of Biology, the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Geosciences, the University hospital UMCU and Institutes such as IMAU (Institute for Marine and Atmospheric research) and RIVM (The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). We participate in university focus areas in Complex Systems and Applied Data Science.
Candidates are expected to teach mathematics in BSc and MSc programmes and to take up a fair share of administrative duties.
The position is in principle permanent and full-time (80%-100%) at the level of full professor in the section of Mathematical Modelling. More junior applicants with high potential will be considered for an appointment at the level of associate professor, including a possible 6-year career track leading, after positive evaluation, to a nomination for full professor.
In view of the gender balance we strongly encourage women to apply.
Closing date for applications: 31 December 2017
