The Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry (MACSI) at the University of Limerick, Ireland wishes to appoint a postdoctoral researcher to develop statistical models and algorithms for the pharmaceutical sector. MACSI is Ireland’s largest applied and industrial mathematics group and works closely with scientists and industrial companies across a wide variety of sectors including the Pharmaceutical sector. MACSI’s aim is to foster new collaborative research, in particular on problems that arise in industry through the application of cutting-edge mathematical and statistical modelling techniques.
The role lies within the Solid State Pharmaceutical Centre (SSPC), the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Pharmaceutical Research Centre, hosted by the University of Limerick. It is a Global Hub of Pharmaceutical Process Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing. The SSPC leads the way for next generation drug manufacture and spans the entire pharmaceutical production chain from synthesis of the molecule, to the isolation of the material, and the formulation of the medicine. The aim of the SSPC is to deliver industry relevant solutions, which result in job growth and retention within the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland.
The successful candidate will focus on using and developing statistical models and algorithms for, e.g., process modelling, process monitoring and identification of critical process variables. They will develop collaborative links with other researchers within the SSPC and will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and with industry partners.
