This position is located in the Social and Gender Statistics Section (SGSS), Statistics Division (SD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The statistician reports to the Chief of the Section. The Statistics Division is committed to the advancement of the global statistical system. The Division compiles and disseminates global statistical information, develops standards and norms for statistical activities and supports countries' efforts to strengthen their national statistical systems.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in statistics, mathematics, economics, sociology or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of statistical data on social issues, including on gender equality is required.
