Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral fellow in statistics at Duke University. There is particular interest in candidates having interest/expertise in some combination of Bayesian statistics and mathematical modeling, with an emphasis in developing methodology for analyzing data incorporating geometry and topology. For example, methods may focus on learning of lower dimensional structure underlying high-dimensional data and/or analysis of object data having support on non-Euclidean manifolds and stratified spaces.
A PhD in statistics, mathematics or a related field is required. The candidate must be a US citizen or green card holder, and the position will involve a teaching component including classroom teaching one semester per year and mentoring of undergraduates through the Summer Undergraduate Research Project program.
The candidate will be hired as part of a program funded by the NSF Research Training Grant "Structure in Complex Data," which establishes an extensive program of research and education in the mathematics and statistics needed to analyze modern data.
