The School of Mathematics & Statistics is seeking to appoint two lecturers in Statistics as part of a university strategic investment in Statistics, Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, and Pure Mathematics. The School has recently been awarded, jointly with Computing Science, a five year EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Cloud computing for Big Data.
We seek candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to excel in research with a good quality publication record for the discipline. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate excellence or outstanding potential in teaching and supervision duties, as part of undergraduate degree programmes in the areas of Statistics. A PhD degree and in-depth subject knowledge/expertise in statistics is essential.
A high level of analytical and problem-solving capability is also essential, with excellent personal skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for teaching and the ability and motivation to seek out new research opportunities.
The Statistics Section has an international reputation for research in Statistical Bioinformatics, Stochastic Systems Biology and Biostatistics, particularly from a Bayesian perspective. We seek candidates with research interests in any area of statistics and applied probability, particularly those which align well with our current strengths or complement these areas through, for example, applications to Big Data or the methodological underpinning of advanced Bayesian computation.
