Jobs: Two biostatistician posts at Newcastle University, UK

Apologies for cross-posting.
Just a reminder, these two jobs are open to applications until 26th September.
We have two biostatistics positions currently available in Newcastle University. The first one is available at various levels and would be mostly working on (or leading at the senior level) some very interesting applied projects. The second one is a postdoc position working with me on methodology for efficient design and analysis of clinical trials. There’s a lot of flexibility in what you might work on, including adaptive designs, biomarker-driven trial designs, or other relevant methods that you may be interested in. There’ll be lots of opportunities to apply novel methodology in practice if that would be of interest!
I’d be very happy for anyone interested to contact me if you’d like more information about the positions. If you are specifically interested in the first, more applied, position then you can contact Denise Howel (This email address is being protected from spambots. More details are given below.
Kind regards,
James

You will work with Professor James Wason on methodological research with applications to clinical trials as part of the Biostatistics Research Group (http://research.ncl.ac.uk/ihsbiostats/). The Institute hosts several groups of methodologists, along with a National Institute for Health Research Design Service, and is linked to a UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit. The current methodology research interests of the group are adaptive trial designs, biomarker-guided trials and analysis of composite endpoints. However other areas of research in the field of statistical methods for efficient design and analysis of clinical trials would be of interest also. There will be opportunities to be involved in the supervision of a PhD student and to collaborate with other statisticians in the group.
You will be a suitably qualified statistician (with either a PhD or a postgraduate qualification with a track record of published methodology work) interested in working on novel statistical methodology and applying it in real trials.
Experience of one or more statistical analysis packages (R, STATA, SAS) is essential.
The post is available for 3 years. The start date is flexible but ideally would be January 2018.
