We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer below the bar in Statistics and Data Science (3 years) in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Limerick (UL), Ireland. The department is responsible for teaching mathematics and statistics at all levels across the University, and also has a thriving research programme in applied mathematics and statistics.
Research interests in the department include the development of statistical and applied mathematical methods (and hybrids thereof) for a range of real-world applications. Examples of specific statistical topics include Bayesian modelling, functional data analysis, survival analysis, mixed effect models, and biostatistics, but further linking between statistics and applied mathematics, e.g., as part of MACSI (the Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry), would be particularly welcome.
Applicants are invited from any area of statistics with particular relevance to data science. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree (level 10NFQ) in a relevant discipline, should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and should have a track record in research and publication in any area of statistics and data science. Experience of working in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects is also desirable, as is an awareness of how their work can impact more broadly on industry and society, and an ability to demonstrate this.
Salary Scale: €40,599 - €55,818 p.a. pro rata
