Senior Data Manager, Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine, Queen Mary University
Application Deadline <> 14 - July - 2020
The Centre for Cancer Prevention is at the forefront of international research into the prevention and control of cancer. We have particularly active research programmes in breast, endometrial, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer prevention, cancer screening and statistical methods for clinical trials and epidemiology.
We have recently received a prestigious funding award from CRUK for the Aspirin for Cancer Prevention Project (AsCaP). This is an international, multi-disciplinary collaboration between nine institutions in the UK, Europe and the USA to study the role of aspirin in cancer prevention and treatment. We are looking to add a data manager to a high-performing group in our Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory (MEL) focusing on research to explain the mechanisms of aspirin in cancer prevention, and understanding and preventing aspirin’s adverse effects such as intestinal bleeding.
The successful candidate will have experience in creating and maintaining databases with high proficiency. The post-holder will be expected to take an active role in the data acquisition, cleaning and analysis of both publicly available (e.g. online or UK Biobank) and local NGS datasets, including large Aspirin clinical trials seeking to identify who is likely to benefit most from taking aspirin and who is at greater risk of side effects.
Applicants must have a relevant degree, and preferably a postgraduate qualification, and have experience of analysis techniques appropriate to large scale datasets. The post holder is expected to undertake data management for the MEL, ensuring data quality in prospective longitudinal databases. This will include adherence to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and data security protocols.
