On the Department of Computer Science at Paderborn University (Germany),
the following position is to be filled as soon as possible:
Junior Professorship (f/m/d)
Data Science for Engineering
The salary level is W 1. The recruitment is made in civil service for
initially three years. After a positive evaluation the employment will
be extended for further three years. A continuation in a permanent
employment relationship ("tenure track") is not planned.
Successful applicants should be well established in the intersection of
data science and engineering and, ideally, already have some teaching
experience in this area. We consider applicants who focus their research
on the development of methods for engineering applications, combining
traditional approaches of mathematical modelling and simulation with
modern data analysis and machine learning techniques. Typical examples
of relevant application areas include the optimisation and control of
dynamic systems. In addition, experience with writing proposals for
third-party-funded projects is a plus. We also expect readiness and
willingness to participate in interdisciplinary research projects like
the Paderborn Institute for Data Science and Scientific Computing
(DaSCo) and support the preparation of grant proposals for large-scale
research initiatives.
