The School of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Melbourne seeks a Professorial appointee who will provide academic leadership in Statistics with an emphasis on Data Science.
In this role you will be expected to make major contributions to research, provide academic leadership and contribute to professional development, the School's governance and teaching excellence.
Beyond the Statistics group, Melbourne provides an outstanding environment in which to develop innovative research in statistics/data science, with opportunities for collaborations with machine learning and bioinformatics researchers in Computing and Information Systems, biostatisticians in Population and Global Health, big data research in genomics in the Centre for Systems Genomics as well as applied and theoretical approaches to big data in the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers (ACEMS).
The school has excellent computing facilities and access to super computers is available through the Victorian Life Science Computation Initiative (VLSCI).
