PhD Position in Statistics at the University of Bern: Bayesian Set Estimation

PhD POSITION in STATISTICS

Funding from the SNF (Swiss National Science Foundation) is available for a PhD student to work on a project supervised by Dr. David Ginsbourger and Prof. Ilya Molchanov.
This project focuses on novel set estimation methods relying on random fields models. The research work will involve concepts and techniques from probability theory, spatial statistics, machine learning, and applied functional analysis. It is anticipated that the prospective student has a background in mathematics, applied mathematics and/or statistics, a high motivation for research in collaborative and interdisciplinary environments, as well as some programming experience.

The funding is secured for 3 years with the starting date of 1 October 2013 or as can be arranged by mutual agreement.
