The Statistical Consulting Service
The Statistical Consulting Service was established with the support of a grant from the Xunta de Galicia, through the call for Competitive Reference Groups.
The Optimization, Decision, Statistics and Applications Models group (GI-1914) set as a priority for its consolidation as a structure of research excellence a reorganization of the group’s activities into three units, in line with the characteristics of the interdisciplinary research activity carried out by its members. The funding received has been invested in hiring a technical coordinator for the Consulting Service.
How it works
To ensure excellence and technical rigor in every collaboration, the EAMO Statistical Consulting Service follows a structured management protocol. This procedure ensures that each request is assessed by experts and assigned to the most qualified research team according to the project’s needs.
Online request
The applicant submits a request through an online form, where contact details and a brief description of the request are recorded.
Technical analysis
Based on the online submission, the technician will prepare a brief report on the proposal. If necessary, they will contact the applicant to request further information. This proposal is sent to the Service Director.
Assessment
The Director, or the technical director(s) to whom they delegate, assess the proposal.
Notification
If it is considered that the request should not be taken on, the technician is informed and contacts the applicant to let them know that their request will not be handled.
Assignment
Otherwise, the proposal is sent to all members of the department. Interested parties will submit their proposal to the director or technical directors. If there is only one researcher or group interested in carrying out the work, the technicians convene a meeting with the applicant to discuss the proposal in more detail. The technician will prepare a report for the agreement. If there is more than one researcher or group interested, the Service’s Scientific Committee will meet and seek to produce a single proposal.
Scientific Committee
The Statistical Consulting Service is led by a Directorate that coordinates all technical activity. To ensure the quality of each project, we also have a Scientific Committee, made up of the Director and department experts who oversee the rigor of our work.
