We are seeking a Medical Statistician to join a multidisciplinary team working on one of the world’s biggest prospective epidemiological studies, the China Kadoorie Biobankhttp://www.ckbiobank.org/. The post is based in the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) within the Nuffield Department of Population Health, a major international research institute and one of the world’s leading centres for research into chronic diseases.
You will join an existing team of statisticians, epidemiologists, geneticists, clinicians and programmers, involved in the design, conduct and analysis of studies of causes of common chronic disease.
Specifically, you will undertake detailed statistical analysis, using conventional and novel methods, of large, complex and multi-dimensional data collected or to be generated using the China Kadoorie Biobank resource. Additionally you will be responsible, in collaboration with other members of the team, for monitoring of blood assays, follow-up and outcome adjudication data that are being generated using standard and novel techniques.
You will have an MSc or PhD in statistics or a closely related field, or an undergraduate degree in statistics or a closely related field combined with substantial relevant work experience. You will also have a very good understanding of common statistical methods used in medical research. You should be familiar with the programming approaches needed to implement these methods in SAS and at least one other major statistical package (e.g. R, Stata) and have a strong interest in biomedical/epidemiological research.
