We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Associate Professor within the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton. The successful candidate will help us to deliver and develop our BSc and MSc programmes in actuarial and financial mathematics, and their research will enhance the research activities of the School, particularly in the fields of actuarial mathematics and/or financial mathematics or a closely related discipline.
The successful candidate should have a PhD in Mathematics, Financial Mathematical, Actuarial Science or a related research area, and an appropriate track record of high quality research at a national and international level. They should also be able to demonstrate teaching ability in actuarial and financial mathematics. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with research interests on the interface of actuarial and financial mathematics with Statistics and Social Statistics.
The School of Mathematical Sciences has a strong record of providing an excellent learning and research environment. Our research portfolio spans statistics, operational research, pure mathematics, applied mathematics and theoretical physics. The University of Southampton is a member of the Alan Turing Institute, and a number of researchers from the School of Mathematical Sciences are Turing fellows. The School of Mathematical Sciences hosts several research centres that collaborate widely across the University, including the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI) and the Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Sciences (CORMSIS).

There is one position available with the successful candidate to be appointed as either a Lecturer or Associate Professor depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full time permanent post tenable from 1 November 2019 or from a mutually agreed later date.
